Trigeminal Neuralgia
Acupuncture is an effective method to improve trigeminal neuralgia
Pain in the face, or trigeminal neuralgia, is particularly excruciating, especially since the discomfort of trigeminal neuralgia for many is an electric shock or stabbing pain. The lightest touch on your face can be excruciating.
Recent research showed the benefits of Acupuncture for trigeminal neuralgia, with often no side effects instead of the medicines. Dr. Bennett takes an integrative approach to treatment, working with your doctors to manage the patient’s pain.
What is trigeminal neuralgia?
Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic pain disorder that affects the trigeminal nerve. Trigeminal neuralgia has two generally known types – typical and atypical trigeminal neuralgia. The typical form has severe, sudden, shock-like pain in one side of the face lasting for brief periods, several times a day. On the other hand, atypical has less severe constant burning pain that is less severe and triggered by touching the face. Both types can occur in the same person. It is considered one of the most painful conditions and, for many, leads to depression.
